Commissioners serve four-year terms and elections are held in November of even-numbered years. New workbench members take office at the first meeting in December pursuit the November election. At this meeting, commissioners take the oath of office and elect a chair and vice chair for the coming year.MeetingsTheWorkbenchof Commissioners meets regularly at 7 p.m., usually on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. The first Tuesday meeting is usually held at the Whitted Meeting Room, 300 W. Tryon St, Hillsborough. The second Tuesday meeting is usually held in the workbench room of the Southern Human Services Center, 2501 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill. Meeting days and locations may be adjusted due to holidays or spare meetings/work sessions may be added.
